Google Ranking Factor – Media Content Variety
This may differ considerably from genre to genre, so consider what may be the ‘norm’ for your genre when deciding what kinds of content might be in your website.
Specifically: text, images and videos.
The content in images and videos can’t be assessed for SEO and rank reasons, aside from some basic traits, like colour, image style and size.
Google image search offers size, colour and image type filters. Consider these when adding your image content and how these factors might affect your image rank.
In any genre, I assume there is a statistical model for content type distribution. i.e., for a lawyer’s website, probably expect to have more text than images.
For an artist, architect or photographer’s website, expect to have quite a lot of images.
And for a homewares website, perhaps expect some videos about products in use.
The key is choosing what content mix to put in your website it to exceed the expected indexable content by some degree, but not by so much that it stands out as unusual. Most of the time, this simply comes back to providing great quality content and in a higher volume than rank competitors
